Potential Errors/Problems

Problem

Changing what directory AVD saves newly created emulators too, so xamarin can pick up the changes immediately.


Fix

 create new environment variable;

 System >

Click the Advanced System Settings link in the left column.

In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab,

then click the Environment Variables button near the bottom of that tab.

Add a new system variable with the below details.

Variable Name :  ANDROID_SDK_HOME

Variable Value:    ***directory***

 fastDev assembly couldnt be created

Fix

 turn off fast deployment in android options

Problem

Andriod Emulator Issues

Fix

Download Visual Stuidio Emulator for Andriod from 
https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/features/msft-android-emulator-vs.aspx


If app doesn’t load after emulator loads follow steps below

1. Launch the emulator (F5 in VS, then cancel the deployment using the Build/Cancel menu)
2. Click on the chevron icon in the toolbar to the right of the emulator
3. Select the Network tab
4. Locate the preferred network ip address
5. Back in VS, click on the Open Adb Command Prompt toolbar button
6. Type adb connect [the emulator ip address]
7. Press F5 again in VS

Problem

Xamarin.Forms.Platform.Android.FormsApplicationActivity  not exist

Update xamarin.forms nuget package

Fix

Get the gethub extension for visual stuido from here https://visualstudio.github.com/

Problem

"CreateAdditionalLibraryResourceCache" task failed unexpectedly

 Fix

Moving your project to a directory that has a shorter path (e.g. c:\dev\project).

Problem

"CopyAndConvertResources" task failed unexpectedly

Fix

1. Delete the bin\ and obj\ folders.
2. Check out the Resources\ folder from TFS (recursively).
